In Term 1, children are introduced to the world of creative writing. They learn to use mind maps as the main building blocks for developing their ideas and stories.
The focus is on building a solid foundation in essential writing skills, including brainstorming techniques, proper use of punctuation, capitalization rules, understanding tenses, crafting effective sentence structures, using linking words to connect ideas, and organizing paragraphs and plots.
The term concludes with an exciting exploration of narrative writing, empowering children to weave their ideas into captivating stories.
Term 2
Exploring Diverse Writing Styles
Term 2 expands on the foundation laid in Term 1 by exploring diverse writing styles. Children engage in a variety of writing exercises, from narratives to letter writing and beyond, fostering creativity and making writing an exciting adventure.
Your child has the opportunity to explore song lyrics, speeches, and comics in our programme. Songwriters and speech writing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to shine on our in-house stage, transforming their ideas into compelling words and practicing speech delivery.
With these exposures, the children learn to adapt their writing style to different formats and purposes, discovering the joy and versatility of creative expression through words.
